In addition to the curriculum stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, students at FPT Schools also study advanced English textbooks from Oxford University Press.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL

The English program at FPT Schools is built on a “recipe”:

  • ESL + AE = FPT English
  • ESL is an abbreviation for English as a Second Language.

AE stands for Applied English.

The English subject at FPT Schools ensures that students access and cultivate understanding of language and culture, ability to communicate – interact through listening – speaking – reading – writing skills, improving critical thinking and creativity, with a duration of 10 English lessons per week (including 04 periods in charge of foreign teachers) and 02 STEM lessons utilizing applied English words. Communication skills and language knowledge are developed on the basis of specific communicative competence units through various topics.

HIGH SCHOOL

Beyond focusing on the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, English lessons at FPT Schools also cultivate critical thinking skills in students.

Critical skills not only assist students in taking IELTS, a better international English language test system, but also serve as a stepping stone for students to take the SAT, a widely used standardized test. In the American educational system, it is widely used in college admissions.

Students in Grades 10 and 11 have 8 English lessons per week, including 4 textbook lessons and 4 extra lessons. The intensive learning program for grade 12 students includes 10 English lessons per week with 6 textbook lessons, and 4 extra lessons.

The English program is mostly taught in a parallel manner, with Vietnamese teachers handling two periods of reading and writing, while foreign teachers manage two periods of listening and speaking.
